Francesca Antonini Arte Contemporanea is proud to announce the 60th year of activity of the gallery, which from its beginnings until today has never changed venue, located in Via di Capo le Case 4, in the center of Rome.
Founded in 1964 by Angelica Savinio, Alberto Savinio's daughter, under the name of Il Segno, the gallery embarked on an important path of collaboration with some of the major international artists - including Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Alberto Giacometti and Fausto Melotti - that led it to be a leading player on the Italian scene in the following decades.
In 2014, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of its foundation, the gallery changed its name into Francesca Antonini Arte Contemporanea, marking the start of a new exhibition itinerary and the renewal of its field of research, choosing to focus on young Italian art. This change took place not without difficulty and with a slight reverential fear, given the importance of the previous path.
Today, the gallery's activity is mainly focused on scouting and promoting the work of artists of the latest generation, sometimes just out of the academies, with a particular focus on emerging painting. The relationship that unites each artist with the gallery passes through a continuous dialogue, where studio visits are a fundamental moment of construction and evolution.
To celebrate this important birthday, a meeting with curators, collectors and artists will be held at the auditorium of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni. With their testimonies, anecdotes and personal recollections they will tell about their connection with the gallery.
