ASSOLO #5

MARCO EUSEPI

OPENING THURSDAY JANUARY 18TH 2024
UNTIL SATURDAY MARCH 9TH 2024

Francesca Antonini Arte Contemporanea is pleased to present Assolo #5 which features Marco Eusepi (Anzio, 1991) in collaboration with Secci Gallery, Milano-Firenze- Pietrasanta. With Assolo, the gallery periodically presents a project dedicated to a guest artist who can freely intervene with an accurate selection of new works. The first four appointments featured the work of Shafei Xia (ShaoXing, 1989) with P420, Bologna; Andrea Barzaghi (Monza, 1988) with Lunetta 11, Mombarcaro (CN); Cristiano Tassinari (Forlì, 1980) with Ncontemporary, Milan and Andrea Fontanari (Trento, 1996) with Boccanera Gallery, Trento-Milan.

The research of Marco Eusepi focuses on the relationship between reality and its residue, investigated through the creation of seismographic surfaces that hold elements of his life story, processed through the filter of memory. His work develops from a particular attention to the natural world. The predilection for flowers, plant elements and landscapes - the absolute protagonists of his paintings - has a very precise motivation: the choice of these subjects is aimed at pursuing a way of painting that has no specific narrative, but tends to seek balance in the painting itself, both in its details and in its entirety.

In Assolo #5, small and medium-sized canvas-backed Japanese paper alternate with works on canvas, dialoguing with each other and with the gallery spaces. The paintings, made especially for the project, move along two different tracks: in addition to evoking family memories (more or less distant, autobiographical or collective), they are able to speak about the present time, the everyday, and the power and beauty that characterise ephemeral things.
